Family Lawyers’ Code of Practice

The department’s partner William Healing is a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association). The Department therefore follows the Resolution Code of Practice. This means for your case that we will adopt an approach which:

  1. is constructive to ensure as quick a resolution as possible;
  2. puts the interests of any child of the family first;
  3. looks for a fair solution rather than to win for the client at all costs;
  4. uses correspondence which tries always to move the case forwards and which is jargon free particularly where the other party has no solicitor;
  5. encourages the client to adopt an open and honest attitude;
  6. considers all options apart from the court process.

We will give you a copy of the Code at or soon after the end of our first meeting. You can therefore have a clear idea of the principles the department will abide by in what can often be a stressful time for the client.
